RelyEZ–Weihai Consortium Secures EPC Contract for 40MW Solar + 30MWh Energy Storage Project in West Africa

The consortium of RelyEZ and Weihai International has secured the EPC contract for a 40 MW solar photovoltaic plant integrated with a 30 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Koudougou, Burkina Faso. This achievement reinforces the consortium’s growing presence across Africa and adds another milestone to its expanding portfolio of completed renewable-energy projects on the continent.

Building on Proven Success Across Africa

This latest award comes on the heels of RelyEZ’s completed projects in Chad and Côte d’Ivoire, where the company has already delivered high-performance energy storage systems that significantly improved local power reliability and reduced diesel dependency.

With two African deployments already completed and operating successfully, RelyEZ continues to demonstrate its ability to execute complex EPC projects in challenging environments—strengthening energy access and supporting long-term national development goals.

Full EPC Turnkey Delivery in Two Phases

The Burkina Faso project will be executed as a full EPC turnkey package, covering engineering, procurement, construction, grid interconnection, and technical training for local operators. The scope is divided into two major phases:

Phase 1

· The project will include the construction of a 20 MWp solar power plant.

· A dedicated transmission line will be built to connect the plant to the 90/33 kV Koudougou substation.

· The construction period for Phase 1 is planned for 12 months.

Phase 2

· Phase 2 will involve developing an additional 20 MWp solar power plant.

· This phase will also integrate a 10 MW / 30 MWh battery energy storage system.

· Additional transmission and interconnection facilities will be constructed to support system integration.

· The construction period for Phase 2 is scheduled for 16 months.

Once operational, the hybrid system will strengthen Burkina Faso’s energy infrastructure by improving grid stability, delivering cleaner power, and reducing reliance on fuel-based generation.
