Inner Mongolia’s Energy Future Takes Shape: 500MW/2000MWh Utility-Scale Ulaanqab Storage Project Breaks Ground
On June 28, 2025 – A major leap forward in China's clean energy future took place as RelyEZ Energy and Huade Xingyuan New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. officially broke ground on the landmark 500MW/2000MWh standalone energy storage power station in Ulaanqab, Inner Mongolia.
Designed to play a pivotal role in the region’s integrated wind–solar–storage power ecosystem, this project is not just a technological achievement it’s a strategic blueprint for what’s possible when innovation meets commitment. With Xingyuan as the project investor and RelyEZ as the integrated EPC and full-lifecycle solution provider, the development reflects a powerful alignment of vision between public and private sectors to deliver scalable, sustainable energy infrastructure.
A New Era for Inner Mongolia’s Power Grid
Selected as one of Inner Mongolia’s first batch of standalone energy storage demonstration projects for 2025, the Ulaanqab facility is designed to be more than just an asset it’s set to become a cornerstone of grid reliability and renewable integration in Northern China. RelyEZ’s all-in-one solution spans system design, equipment supply, grid-forming energy storage technology, long-term operations, and participation in energy market ensuring the station is built not only for performance, but also for permanence.
The deployment will feature advanced immersive liquid-cooling systems and is engineered to synchronize seamlessly with variable wind and solar power sources, enabling smarter, faster, and more resilient power delivery.
“This project reflects our deep belief that the energy storage industry must not only keep pace with renewable deployment it must lead it,” said by Ms. Naomi Zhang, CEO at RelyEZ. “Our role in Ulaanqab demonstrates the strategic value of lifecycle-integrated storage and how it can unlock the full potential of renewable energy systems.”
Powering Policy Goals Through Innovation
Beyond the impressive scale and specs, the Ulaanqab project is a response to China’s urgent call for energy diversification and system-level flexibility. It will serve as a key testing ground for independent storage participation in the electricity market, while also validating the impact of large-scale storage on renewable dispatch, load balancing, and energy security.
This milestone follows the successful grid connection of four 1.5GWh standalone storage stations, Yao’an, Yongde, Nanhua, and Xundian in Yunnan Province on May 30, another major achievement under RelyEZ’s leadership. Together, these projects cement RelyEZ’s reputation as a technical front-runner in complex energy storage deployment under grid-intensive conditions.
A Long-Term Vision for Global Energy Transition
With over 15GWh of cumulative project experience and more than 200 energy storage projects delivered worldwide, RelyEZ Energy continues to lead the charge toward a decarbonized future. The company’s holistic approach from design to market operation ensures clients receive tailored, future-proofed solutions aligned with national energy goals and global climate commitments.
“RelyEZ is not just building energy storage we’re building the foundations of tomorrow’s energy landscape,” said by Ms. Naomi Zhang, CEO at RelyEZ. “As the world accelerates toward net-zero, projects like Ulaanqab prove that with the right partners and technology, sustainable development is not only achievable it’s inevitable.”
Once operational, the Ulaanqab station is projected to contribute hundreds of millions of kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, helping stabilize the North China power grid and advance the region’s green economic development.
